Performing outside of Adelaide allowed me to meet new musicians, experience diverse venues, and connect with different audiences—an experience that was truly game-changing for me. “Back in Iran, I was highly active and productive in my music, immersed in a vibrant community of musicians. However, after moving to Australia, I lost that sense of connection and struggled to find like-minded artists to collaborate with.

The Music In Exile Artist Accelerator Program has been a transformative experience, significantly boosting not only my productivity but also my sense of belonging as an immigrant musician. Through this program, I’ve had the chance to work with incredible musicians, but more importantly, I’ve built lasting friendships and expanded my network of industry professionals. I’ve also gained invaluable insights into the Australian music industry.

Throughout the program, I’ve received unwavering support from the Music In Exile team, including artist managers and staff, who have helped me record my EP and facilitated performances to increase my visibility.

I’m excited to take the work I’ve done with Music In Exile into the next stage of my career. I’m already exploring new ideas for my second album and look forward to touring across the country and internationally to share my music with a wider audience.”

This positionality is exclusively horizontal - giving full voice, choice, agency and intellectual property authority to the artist/artists, while championing them and opening mainstream and niche opportunities for them.

I can attest that opportunities like this are next to none in this industry and are certainly not seen in any structure such as this one. In this structure there is a sustained, systematic 'portfolio' equivalent space created for the artist to develop, document and release not only their creative material, but also the necessary marketing collateral (ie. photos, images, publicity campaign materials,) required for their future freelancing applications and expressions of interest.

In their advocacy, Music in Exile, not only forges pathways for performance opportunities, but also sets up environments where we can now be in direct conversations with these festivals, venues, artistic directors, curators and programmers, setting us up for an independent future of greater visibility, through our time together.”
