Chikchika

Chikchika (formerly Music Yared) features Haftu Reda and Anbessa Gebrehiwot originally from the Tigray region of Ethiopia with renowned Oromo singer, Mulu Baqqalaa. Singing about love, distance, separation and culture, their songs are accompanied by the traditional instruments of krar (5-string lyre) and masinko (single string violin). Completing the band for this performance are Dale Gorfinkel on percussion and bass and Michael McNab on drums.

With a focus on their East African cultural heritage, Chikchika embraces new sonic territories with a beautiful modesty, camaraderie and a deep groove.

Their debut single, 'Abichu', is vocalist Muluu's version of a traditional song of praise and love from the mother and the people of Abichu, a young hero, fighting to protect his people and country.
